The British Veterinary Association (BVA) is set to host its inaugural BVA Awards Dinner in November 2024.

This marks a significant shift from its traditional Gala Dinner format. The new event aims to spotlight the achievements of exceptional veterinary professionals across the UK.

Scheduled for Thursday 14 November 2024, the BVA Awards Dinner will be held at the luxurious London Marriott Hotel Canary Wharf. The event will bring together the presentation of four prestigious awards, recognising excellence within the veterinary field. The evening will include a drinks reception, sponsored by Lloyd & Whyte, followed by dinner and dancing.

Four Key Awards to be Presented

The BVA Awards Dinner will honour recipients in four categories:

  • BVA Young Vet of the Year Award, supported by Zoetis
  • BVA Wellbeing Awards, supported by MSD Animal Health UK
  • BVA Outstanding Service Award (Chiron Award)
  • BVA Advancement of Veterinary Science Award (Dalrymple-Champneys Award)

British Veterinary Association President Anna Judson highlighted the significance of the event. She noted the recent pressures faced by the veterinary profession due to various external factors. “The veterinary profession has been under intense scrutiny in past months, as the impact of the cost-of-living crisis and XL Bully ban began to be felt, swiftly followed by the Competition and Markets Authority announcing its review into the sector,” said Judson. She emphasised the dedication of veterinary teams and the importance of recognising their hard work and achievements. “BVA Awards is a fantastic opportunity to come together as a profession to celebrate our inspiring members and Team Vet as a whole.”
