The British Veterinary Association (BVA) has announced the focus of BVA Live 2024, set to take place at the NEC in Birmingham on 6-7 June.
This year’s event will spotlight contextualised care, emphasising the importance of tailoring veterinary treatment to the unique needs of both animals and their owners.
BVA Live offers two days of engaging CPD opportunities and serves as a platform for veterinary professionals to connect, share insights, and address key industry issues. The event features a diverse lineup of speakers, including experts in small animal, equine, and farm veterinary practice, ensuring accessible CPD for all career stages and specialisms.
Programme Highlights
Among the sessions at BVA Live 2024:
- Balancing Financial Needs and Animal Welfare: Vicky Ford-Fennah and Kate Higgins explore how contextualised care can align with the financial demands of veterinary practices.
- Ethical Decision Making: Rosie Allister and Hamish Morrin delve into the ethical challenges faced by veterinary teams, including euthanasia decisions and conflict resolution.
- Canine Fertility Services: Angelika von Heimendahl examines the role of vets in the expanding field of canine fertility.
- Promoting Sustainable Pet Ownership: BVA Past President Justine Shotton discusses sustainable approaches to pet ownership with Jen Gale, Founder of Sustainable(ish).
- Gut Microbiome and Animal Behaviour: Fergus Allerton, Sarah Heath, and Jatin Nagpal explore the influence of the gut microbiome on animal behaviour and wellbeing.
BVA President Anna Judson, along with Senior Vice President Malcolm Morley and Junior Vice President Elizabeth Mullineaux, will lead discussions on ethical dilemmas and contentious issues in the BVA Interactive Zone. The BVNA Nursing stream will also feature at BVA Live 2024, offering valuable insights and educational opportunities for veterinary nurses.
