This week, the Garden Centre Expo in London will highlight canine safety with a special talk from leading canine first aid trainer, Rachel Bean.

Bean, who has developed the iPET Network qualification in canine first aid, will address the audience on Wednesday at the Excel Centre. Her appearance is part of the Pet Industry Federation’s initiative to raise awareness of safety in dog-friendly spaces.

Rachel Bean, who has extensive experience teaching canine first aid worldwide, will use the opportunity to discuss the importance of ensuring that staff at dog-friendly venues, such as garden centres, are equipped with the knowledge to handle potential emergencies. She emphasised the growing number of dog-friendly venues, stating, “So many places are now dog friendly which is so wonderful, and we believe that all of these venues should have someone on-site that can save a life if needed.”

Focus on Dog-Friendly Safety

As the trend of dog-friendly venues continues to rise, the Pet Industry Federation is encouraging businesses to prioritise safety. This push includes training staff to respond to canine medical emergencies. Bean’s talk is expected to highlight practical skills and safety measures that can be implemented at such venues to ensure the well-being of dogs visiting these spaces.

The Garden Centre Expo 2024, which is a significant event in the garden retail industry, offers professionals the chance to connect and explore future trends. Businesses of all sizes, from start-ups to large organisations, use the event to network and find opportunities for growth. Alongside the exhibition, a conference programme addresses key topics, including product selection, sustainability, innovation, and technology.

Bean’s appearance at the Expo underscores the importance of integrating canine safety into these growing, dog-friendly environments.
