Award-winning workplace design company Interaction has unveiled a nationwide competition to find Britain’s Best Office Dog.
The initiative invites dog owners across the UK to nominate their office pets, aiming to celebrate the role of dogs in promoting workplace wellbeing.
With the rise in pet ownership during the pandemic—3.2 million new pets were acquired in UK households during lockdown—many employees are now balancing office life with their furry companions. Interaction believes that fostering dog-friendly workplace policies can help businesses reduce stress, enhance morale, and encourage employees to return to offices.
The competition, which runs throughout 2025, will see monthly winners receive a doggy prize box from Bella’s Box. Additionally, the winning pets’ offices will receive a hamper of treats for their human colleagues. The initiative will culminate in December 2025 with the crowning of Britain’s Best Office Dog. The overall winner will be awarded a luxurious two-night stay at one of the UK’s top dog-friendly hotels, accompanied by their owner.
Judging Panel Brings Expertise to the Contest
A panel of experts has been assembled to judge the competition, including Emily Birch, a clinical animal behaviourist and founder of The Office Dog, a consultancy specialising in pet-friendly workspaces. Dr Eloise Warrilow, an occupational psychologist who has conducted research on dog-friendly workplaces, will also contribute her insights. Marketing expert Garry James from FOUNDRY, which operates pet-friendly coworking offices, rounds out the panel.
Dieter Wood, managing director of Interaction, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating: “We’ve spent over 30 years designing and building offices that enhance wellbeing and foster community. But what’s one thing that no fit-out or furniture can replicate? The boundless energy, unconditional love, and occasional chaos that a dog can bring to the office. They offer undeniable benefits in terms of morale, mental health and even productivity.
“That’s why we’re excited to launch Britain’s Best Office Dog, a nationwide competition celebrating the furry friends who make our workplaces better. By highlighting the role dogs play in workplace wellbeing, we hope to inspire businesses to think creatively about how they can support their teams.”
How to Enter
Dog owners wishing to participate need to share a photo of their dog in the office, along with a description of how their pet contributes to workplace joy. Anecdotes and stories that bring the entries to life are encouraged.
