The Kennel Club is introducing a new regional network aimed at enhancing support for dog clubs and societies across the UK.

This initiative is designed to provide a single point of contact for organisers involved in dog activities, streamlining the way The Kennel Club interacts with its community.

Enhanced Support for Organisers

This new support structure offers several benefits for those organising dog activities. The regional network introduces clearer points of contact, making it easier for organisers to access the assistance they need. Dedicated regional advisors will offer customised guidance and resources tailored to the specific needs of clubs and societies in their respective areas. The initiative also includes new communication channels and support systems that aim to improve engagement between The Kennel Club and event organisers.

Helen Kerfoot, Chief Operating Officer (Canine Events) at The Kennel Club, expressed optimism about the new network: “We are excited to be announcing this new way of working. We understand the concerns and feelings that there needs to be more support from The Kennel Club to its customers, who are our ‘grassroots’ and play a pivotal role within the world of dogs. It is hoped that this system will help to streamline our services, making them more efficient, effective and accessible, strengthen the relationship between The Kennel Club and those valued volunteers in canine clubs and societies, and provide a greater understanding so we’re able to better provide a more personalised service to clubs and societies.”

Proactive Regional Support

The new regions will be determined based on geographic areas and market size, allowing for more proactive support. Kennel Club advisors in each region will manage the operational needs of all clubs and societies within their area, ensuring that each group receives personalised attention and assistance.

Kerfoot further highlighted the broader impact of the initiative, saying, “As well as the positive impact for clubs and societies, we also hope that the improvement in access to resources and support that this network provides will better support the dog community, for those who volunteer and offer their time selflessly for dogs.”

The Kennel Club is currently in the process of recruiting and training team members for this initiative. Once appointed, regional advisors will reach out to clubs and societies across the UK to introduce themselves and provide their contact details, marking the beginning of a more streamlined and supportive relationship between The Kennel Club and its community.
