Six years ago, Petpals Sefton was established under the ownership of Sharren Redmond, quickly becoming a cherished local pet care provider.

As Sharren embarks on new adventures, Suzie Mossman takes over, bringing her lifelong passion for animals to the well-loved business.

Suzie shared, “I’ve had a whole zoo of pets over the years. Growing up, we had dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and even chickens. It felt like we lived on a farm thanks to my dad’s big heart for animals. We always took in any that needed a home.”

Her extensive experience in pet care made her a natural fit for the role. After the loss of her cat Minnie three years ago, Suzie began caring for others’ pets, leading to dog sitting and boarding roles that deepened her love for animal care. This passion prompted her to leave her long-time job at Sefton Council to pursue her dream of running a pet business.

Transition and Community Roots

The transition to Petpals was serendipitous, facilitated by a conversation between Suzie’s mum and Sharren’s mum during their regular coffee mornings. Upon learning that Sharren was looking for a successor, Suzie reached out, and the connection was immediate. After completing all required training and familiarising herself with the local pets through walks and visits, Suzie is ready to continue the Petpals legacy.

“My family is so supportive, and if it wasn’t for my mum putting the feelers out for me to take over the business, none of this would have happened. I’m incredibly grateful,” Suzie said.

Petpals, the UK’s longest-established pet-care specialist, offers a range of bespoke and award-winning services, including dog walking, pet sitting, and pet taxis. Suzie, now fully trained, insured, uniformed, and DBS checked, is set to provide top-notch care in Sefton and neighbouring areas like Crosby, Blundellsands, Waterloo, Brighton-le-Sands, Seaforth, Litherland, Thornton, Netherton, Lunt, and Bootle. She also plans to expand into Formby.

Aware of the high standards set by Sharren, Suzie is committed to maintaining the exceptional care Petpals is known for. “Sharren has turned Petpals into a beloved fixture in Sefton’s pet community, and I’m eager to carry on that tradition of outstanding care. My goal is to ensure as many pets in the area get the attention they deserve, giving their owners peace of mind.”

The existing team at Petpals, including staff and dog boarders, remains intact, ensuring continuity for clients. “Petpals is like one big happy pet family, and I’m excited to get to know our current clients better and welcome new ones into the fold,” Suzie added.
