CVS Group, a leading veterinary services provider, has officially declared the return of its Team Distance Challenge.

This exciting initiative invites colleagues from across CVS to engage in a friendly competition, pushing their fitness boundaries over a four-week period.

Open to individuals at any fitness level, the Team Distance Challenge encourages teams of five colleagues to collectively cover as much distance as possible through activities like walking, running, swimming, cycling, or rowing. With inclusivity in mind, the challenge caters to a range of fitness preferences, ensuring everyone can participate.

Prizes Galore: Recognizing Achievements

Participants not only get the chance to boost their physical well-being but also stand a chance to win prizes. The competition acknowledges winning teams based on distances covered and individual challenges held throughout the event. CVS aims to create a holistic experience by introducing additional challenges like ‘photography bingo,’ where teams collect photos of specific landmarks during their activities.

Last year’s Team Distance Challenge saw an impressive turnout, with 128 teams and 612 competitors collectively covering a total weighted distance of 155,157km, equivalent to approximately 96,410 miles – a feat surpassing circumnavigating the earth more than 12 times.

Event Details and Registration

The CVS Team Distance Challenge is scheduled to run from the 4th of March to the 31st of March. Eligible sports include walking and running (combined), cycling, swimming, and rowing. Each discipline is weighted, contributing to an overall team score. For instance, 1km of running holds a different point value than 1km of cycling. The registration deadline is set for Friday, 1st March.

Ian Bellis, the organizer and Clinical Director of CVS’ Equicall service, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming challenge, “Our Team Distance Challenge is a great way to get outdoors, get some exercise, and enjoy the company of friends and colleagues.”

Promoting Well-being through Physical Activity

Recognizing the crucial link between physical activity and mental health, CVS encourages participants to embrace the outdoors and engage in regular exercise. Numerous studies attest to the positive impact of exercise on reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety while enhancing cognitive function. The Team Distance Challenge thus serves as not only a fitness competition but also a holistic well-being initiative.
