Dorwest Herbs, the herbal pet care brand, has secured the ‘New Product of the Year’ award in the Health & Hygiene category at the 2024 Pet Industry Federation (PIF) Awards for their innovative BrainCopa® Tablets.
This award was presented last week in Stoke-on-Trent during the annual PIF Awards ceremony, which honours leaders in the pet industry across 25 distinct categories.
BrainCopa® Tablets, launched in early 2023, were designed specifically to support brain health and cognitive function in pets facing age-related decline. Developed with veterinary expertise, the tablets contain DHA powder, an omega-3 fatty acid crucial for cognitive support. Judges at the PIF Awards praised BrainCopa® as “an absolute gamechanger for senior dogs,” recognising its effectiveness in helping older dogs maintain mental agility.
Cognitive decline, common among ageing pets, is often referred to as canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CCD), or “doggy dementia.” Research indicates that nearly one in three dogs over the age of 11 is affected by cognitive decline, a trend underscored by increasing search interest in natural support for pets experiencing cognitive changes.
Dorwest Herbs, responding to this demand, initiated a customer trial for BrainCopa® before its February 2023 launch. In this trial, 21 dogs between the ages of 7 and 15 were assessed for cognitive symptoms both before and after taking BrainCopa® Tablets for 28 days. Results showed that 90% of participants reported reduced disorientation and sleep disturbances in their pets.
Managing Director Jo Boughton-White expressed the company’s pride in the recognition: “We’re so incredibly proud to have won this award, especially for such an important product as BrainCopa®. Our team is customer-focused, and our authenticity shines through our digital experience and marketing. We’re delighted to be recognised among pet industry names and to continue making a difference to pets’ lives.”
The PIF Awards, organised by the Pet Industry Federation, highlight successes in pet retail, manufacturing, and wholesale each year. Both PIF and Dorwest Herbs marked their 75th anniversaries last year, reflecting a longstanding commitment to the pet care industry.
