K9 Anytime, Shropshire’s leading luxury dog hotel and daycare provider, has secured three major national awards, establishing itself as a standout in the industry.

Staff member Abbie Mackintosh won Best in Show and First Place in the 1-2 years’ experience category at the English Groomers Competition. Her colleague Megan Crook also impressed the judges, winning the 2-5 years’ experience title. Crook’s achievement is notable as she has mastered grooming despite being left-handed, a recognised challenge in the industry.

Abbie, who has been with K9 Anytime for just eighteen months, expressed her excitement, stating, “To win two awards, including the main accolade, has blown my mind.” She credited her success to her model, Fred the cockapoo, and highlighted the importance of her team’s support in honing her skills.

A Booming Grooming Business

K9 Anytime’s grooming business ensures over 200 dogs look their best every month. The company, established in 2017 by Tom Haynes and Luke Bird, is a prominent luxury daycare and hotel provider in the West Midlands, supporting over 1000 dogs and their families annually.

Grooming services were introduced during the lockdown to assist keyworkers and their pets. The service has since expanded significantly, with five groomers now employed. A significant investment of £30,000 has been made in creating a unique doggy spa facility, featuring ‘walk-in’ marble baths, soft flow shower heads, and industry-leading products.

Importance of Grooming and Health Checks

Isobel Allen, Head of Marketing, emphasised the importance of grooming for maintaining both the beauty and health of dogs. Each grooming visit includes a full-body health check, from nose to toes, to identify any potential issues and recommend natural remedies.

Allen introduced their latest service, Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning, which is a non-invasive alternative to veterinary sedated cleaning. This treatment effectively removes plaque and tartar, combats oral diseases, and rejuvenates gum health, all without noise, vibration, stress, or sedation.

The K9 Anytime grooming team plans to compete on the international stage, with national and world competitions scheduled for later this year and into 2025. They are currently recruiting a full-time groomer to join their growing team. Interested candidates can contact info@k9anytime.com for more information.
