Pet Hamper, the luxury pet gift provider based in Preston, has clinched the title of the hotel industry’s top supplier at the recent Hoteliers Choice Awards. The accolade recognises the outstanding contribution of suppliers to the hotel sector.

Despite fierce competition with hundreds of nominations, Pet Hamper distinguished itself through a combination of expert judge evaluations and public votes. The award is a significant testament to the growing trend of pet-friendly hotels catering to the UK’s pet owners, where over half of households own a pet.

The business, which offers a range of luxury toys, treats, and custom hampers for pets, originated during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mark Jackson, co-founder of Pet Hamper, identified a gap in the market for distinctive pet gifts, prompting him to establish his online store.

Since its inception, the business has flourished, entering into partnerships with various corporations and hotels that present Pet Hamper’s offerings to their patrons. Key collaborations include esteemed establishments such as the Prince Akatoki London, The Elms Hotel & Spa, The Corner London, the Everything Retreat and the pet-friendly booking platform, PetsPyjamas.

Pet Hamper’s unique proposition lies in its curated selection of gifts – from fun toys and nutritious treats to intricately packaged hampers tailored with custom branding and colours. This approach allows hotels to offer their animal guests an unparalleled luxury experience, previously extended only to human guests.

For Pet Hamper, this innovation in the hotel industry culminated in winning the Hoteliers Choice Award, which comes with a £5,000 stand and marketing package at the forthcoming Independent Hotel Show London, scheduled for October 16-17 at Olympia London.

Esteemed judges for the award featured representatives from the Boutique Hotelier magazine, Condé Nast, and the CEO of Pride of Britain.

Backing Pet Hamper’s initiative, Petra Clayton, CEO of hospitality marketing experts Custard, remarked, “Pet Hamper is a quintessential British business, striking a chord with something straightforward yet timely.” Echoing this sentiment, Peter Hancock, the award’s host, commented on the strategic focus of hotels, stating that delighting pets is key to winning over pet enthusiasts.

Reflecting on the achievement, Mark Jackson shared, “Launching the business was a whirlwind experience. Transitioning from that to collaborating with remarkable hotels and finally receiving this national accolade amidst intense competition has been extraordinary. We aim to delight pets and their owners, a vision that has clearly resonated with the UK’s hotel sector.”

Pet Hamper’s product range can be explored online at pethamper.co.uk. Additionally, enthusiasts can visit the brand’s inaugural store, which opened this summer on Lytham Road, Preston.
