WCF Pet & Equestrian, a specialist pet retailer, is extending its charity initiative into a second year, aiming to provide continued support for local animal charities across Cumbria, Lancashire, North Yorkshire, and south-west Scotland.
This initiative sees each of the eight WCF Pet & Equestrian stores in these regions partnering with a local animal charity to raise funds and awareness.
Supporting Local Charities with Donation Bags and Events
The charity initiative allows customers to contribute by purchasing pre-filled donation bags that contain essentials such as food, supplements, toys, treats, and health care items. These bags are specifically designed to meet the needs of the local charities, with each store working closely with its chosen charity to determine the most useful items.
In addition to the donation bags, WCF Pet & Equestrian has committed to donating three per cent of the money redeemed in-store through its loyalty card scheme to these charities. The stores will also host various fundraising events throughout the year to boost their contributions further.
Jade Earley, General Manager of WCF Pet & Equestrian, highlighted the importance of this initiative: “It’s really important to us that we do everything we can to support local charities and, because we specialise in pet products, it made sense for us to choose charities which are close to our hearts. Our team has really got behind this initiative, with each store selecting the charity they want to support.”
Community Involvement and Social Media Support
The initiative is not limited to financial contributions. WCF Pet & Equestrian is also using its social media platforms and in-store events to promote and support the fundraising efforts of the partnered charities. This added exposure helps raise awareness of the vital work these charities do in their communities.
One of the beneficiaries of this initiative is Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, supported by the WCF Pet & Equestrian store in Carlisle. Liz Fell, Fundraising Officer at Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, expressed her gratitude: “It’s brilliant to have the support of a local business such as WCF Pet & Equestrian, both through raising money and also highlighting the work we do providing a safe place for animals in their time of need. Ongoing fundraising and new sources of revenue are crucial to continuing our work and we’re delighted to be part of this partnership.”
Pre-Filled Donation Bags and Custom Requests
The pre-filled donation bags, available in various values up to £10, are carefully curated by the WCF Pet & Equestrian team and donated directly to the partnered charities. These bags are assembled based on the specific needs of each charity, which can request particular items they find most useful.
This ongoing initiative by WCF Pet & Equestrian not only supports local animal charities financially but also fosters a stronger connection between the stores, their customers, and the communities they serve. As the initiative enters its second year, it continues to build on its success, with a shared goal of enhancing the welfare of animals in need across the region.
