Rosyth-based pet food and wellbeing firm, Bella & Duke, is basking in the glow of a record-breaking year, securing its spot as the UK’s premier subscription raw pet food company.

With accolades, substantial investment in machinery, and continual expansion, the company now stands at 133 employees and is on the lookout for fresh talent to join its vibrant team.

The year 2023 has been monumental for Bella & Duke, marking the delivery of over 15 million meals across the UK. This achievement is coupled with the company’s commitment to supporting Therapy Dogs Nationwide by sponsoring four hero therapy dogs with full Bella & Duke subscriptions. Additionally, Bella & Duke pledged a lifetime supply of food to Dudley, an 11-year-old Springer Spaniel rescued by Second Chance Rescue after suffering neglect and abuse.

Recognitions and Awards

Founders Mark Scott and Tony Ottley were recognised among the UK’s Most Ambitious Business Leaders, securing a spot in the 2023 LDC Top 50 list. Further, Bella & Duke’s commendable growth earned them a spot in the 2023 Scotland Fast Growth 50 index. Their achievements culminated in winning the Manufacturer of the Year 2023 at the Pet Industry Federation Awards, alongside nominations for various categories such as new product and marketing campaign of the year.

Breaking into retail, Bella & Duke made its debut in 25 Pets at Home stores this year, marking a significant milestone. On the heels of this growth, the company is seeking passionate animal lovers to join their cause, offering positions across engineering, marketing, and customer service. With roles such as Maintenance Engineers, Head of Customer Success, and Marketing Executives up for grabs, Bella & Duke is preparing to launch more positions shortly.

Pet-Centric Work Environment and Brand Refresh

The Bella & Duke office in Rosyth, opened last year, stands as a testament to their dedication to both staff and pets, providing a pet-friendly workspace known as “Parklife.” This year, the company underwent a brand refresh, emphasising their commitment to championing pet health, challenging norms, and advocating for species-appropriate nutrition.

2023 also witnessed the launch of new products, including Magic Sprinkles, a premium topper for dog and cat food aimed at encouraging even the fussiest eaters to finish their meals. A new cat food product expanded their existing range of species-appropriate raw pet food.

Looking Ahead

Mark Scott, CEO at Bella & Duke, expressed excitement for the future and gratitude for the support from their subscribers and team. He emphasised their vision to provide pets with healthy, happy, and fulfilling lives and is eager to explore the promising ventures awaiting them in 2024.
