Birmingham Dogs Home held its popular Family Fun Day and Dog Show on 22nd June at Tudor Grange Park, Solihull, raising over £5,000 for their ongoing Little Miracles appeal.
Supported by Ancol Pet Products, the event featured activities such as the Waggiest Tail and Best Trick competitions, as well as raffles, tombola, and an exclusive prize draw.
Fundraising for a Maternity Wing
The Family Fun Day attracted hundreds of dogs and their owners, helping to raise funds for a specialist maternity wing at Birmingham Dogs Home’s Solihull rescue centre. Sponsored by Miraculous Meals, the Little Miracles appeal aims to provide a safe environment for abandoned pregnant dogs, addressing the increasing number of such cases in the Midlands.
In 2023, 18 mothers gave birth under the care of Birmingham Dogs Home, and three litters have already been born this year. The creation of additional whelping units across the charity’s sites will offer a secure and nurturing environment for both mothers and puppies during birth and early life stages.
Donations can be made via the charity’s website or by telephone at 0121 643 5211, Option 3.
Continued Support and Gratitude
Fi Harrison, Head of Fundraising & Communications at Birmingham Dogs Home, also expressed delight at the funds raised. “We are delighted to have raised so much money to help towards our fundraising goals. We always love welcoming back our rescue dogs and meeting our supporters, and we are so grateful to Ancol Pet Products, our headline sponsors, who do so much to support our charity.”
Fi added, “We really need to give the best support we can to new mums and vulnerable new pups which are on the increase at our Solihull rescue centre.”
