IKEA UK has announced a new partnership with Woodgreen Pets Charity to create a ‘Cat-alogue’ and ‘Dog-alogue’ featuring pets from the charity alongside IKEA’s new pet range, UTSÅDD.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of Woodgreen’s work in helping pets and their people, while celebrating the cats and dogs waiting for their forever homes.

The Cat-alogue and Dog-alogue highlight the wonderful pets looking for new homes, set against the backdrop of IKEA’s new pet furniture range, UTSÅDD. This collection is IKEA’s first dedicated range for pets, featuring items such as cosy cat beds, scratching posts, stylish dog beds, and cat houses. The lookbooks aim to give the animals the attention they deserve, while demonstrating how IKEA’s furniture can enhance their lives.

Addressing the Rise in Pet Abandonment

Woodgreen has reported a significant increase in abandoned pets, with a 62% rise in 2023. Additionally, there was a 253% year-on-year increase in people seeking to give up their pets due to financial difficulties, primarily driven by the rising cost of living. Last year alone, Woodgreen helped 8,821 pets through its services.

The collaboration with IKEA aims to support Woodgreen’s mission to provide safe shelter and specialist care for thousands of pets. The charity also offers advice and support to pet owners, helping to prevent the heart-breaking decision to give up a pet due to circumstances beyond their control.

The UTSÅDD Collection

Developed with input from veterinarians, pet product experts, and an excitable panel of cats and dogs, the UTSÅDD collection comprises 29 pieces. These items cater to the four most common activities that pets engage in at home: eating, sleeping, playing, and hiding. The collection is designed to make these activities enjoyable and manageable for both pets and their owners.

“At IKEA, we believe that pets are family,” said Michaela Quinlan, IKEA Spokesperson. “Our goal was to develop a collection of products that our cats and dogs love and that their human parents can feel good about and truly enjoy having as part of their home. We hope this partnership not only raises awareness of adoptions but also provides solutions and inspiration on how to create a comfortable living space for furry companions.”

Donation to Woodgreen

In addition to monetary support, IKEA has donated all the furniture featured in the Cat-alogue and Dog-alogue to Woodgreen’s rehoming centre. This donation aims to provide the best quality experience for the pets during their stay and help them feel more at home.

Fiona Cooke, Head of Specialist Services at Woodgreen, commented: “Every pet deserves a loving home where they feel safe and happy. It’s so important that dogs and cats have spaces to rest and call their own, as well as opportunities to play and have fun – both during their time with us at Woodgreen, and when they move on to their new homes. We’re absolutely delighted to be partnering with IKEA to raise awareness of what we do, and celebrate rescue pets of all shapes and sizes!”

Through this partnership, IKEA UK is actively supporting Woodgreen’s mission to help pets and their people, providing a brighter future for thousands of pets.
