Hunter’s collaboration aims to raise awareness and support for the Home’s escalating demand for vital services during the challenging winter season.
Hunter, renowned on Instagram as @hunter.the.good.boy, embraced his role as the ‘Ambassadog’ by visiting the Home with his owners and actively participating in loading the food-bank donations van. Frequenting the Big Dog Park at Seafield promenade, Hunter’s presence signifies a commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable space for dogs while showcasing his dedication to supporting Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home’s cause.
Urgent Winter Appeal: Meeting Heightened Demand
The Winter Appeal, an urgent plea by Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, addresses the surge in demand for essential services including food banks and emergency assistance. Lindsay Fyffe-Jardine, CEO of the Home, highlighted the critical situation faced due to increased surrender requests and financial strains, calling for support from the public to sustain their efforts in aiding animals and their owners.
“We have seen a devastating increase in the number of surrender requests that we have received this year. This is due to various factors, including financial difficulties, behavioural issues and personal circumstances,” stated Lindsay Fyffe-Jardine. She stressed the urgency of the situation, particularly during winter, and emphasised the importance of donations in ensuring pets have a safe place and families can remain together.
Supporting Animal Welfare
Fyffe-Jardine highlighted the non-judgmental approach of the Home, affirming their commitment to supporting pets and their owners. “Winter can be especially tough, so with the support of our new Ambassadog Hunter, we are appealing to those who can, to make a donation,” Fyffe-Jardine said.
